Driving instructors all around the country remain in limbo when it comes to their jobs.  Do we go back to work or not?  With no clear message from the goverment or DVSA, it is difficult to know what to do.

The common sense approach is to stay at home, an approach I hope all driving instructors are taking.  This common sense approach should tell us that sitting less than a metre away from 6 or 7 people a day for an hour or two at a time is not a good idea.  We can’t possibly follow social distancing guidelines when sat in a car.

My heart goes out to all my learners who were making great progress and have had it come to a halt through no fault of their own. It just isn’t safe to continue at the moment, and may not be for some time.

With the above in mind, I am shocked to have seen several instructors clearly giving lessons  in my area. We are permitted to give lessons to “key workers” but should be displaying signs on the car to indicate what we are doing.  This has not been present on the cars I have seen.  Are these people really that desperate to get back to work and risk their family’s, learners and own health just for money?  Unfortunately, it appears so.

Instructors need a definite no from the goverment, that’s all it would take to end this nonsense.

As things stand now, we are looking at July 4th at a minimum for a return, this of course depends on the virus being under control to the level the government is looking for.

I hope to see you all again soon.
