About LWA Driving School

Hi, I’m Adam

My name’s Adam, and I’ve been a full-time DVSA-approved driving instructor since 2019.
Before teaching, I spent ten years in the mobile phone industry with O₂ and T-Mobile, followed by a career in I.T. and web design.

I qualified as an instructor after passing my Part 1 (theory), Part 2 (advanced driving) and Part 3 (instructional ability) exams, including six months of intensive training. After two years with a national franchise, I launched LWA Driving School to offer a more personal, flexible and learner-focused service across Mexborough, Swinton, Rotherham and the surrounding South Yorkshire area.

Teaching Through Challenging Times

During the Covid pandemic I continued teaching key workers (nurses, teachers and other essential staff) who were still allowed to take lessons. It was a tough but rewarding period that taught me even more about patience, adaptability and keeping every lesson safe and calm.

Today

I now teach a full roster of learners across the Rotherham area with a small, patient waiting list. I’m proud of my recent first-time pass rate of 65% (12 months to November 2025) and even prouder of the confident, independent drivers I’ve helped create.

Like many instructors, we’re still navigating longer DVSA test waiting times — but I make sure every student leaves each lesson test-ready and confident.

Looking Ahead

The future for LWA Driving School is exciting. We’re exploring the addition of more instructors and possibly an automatic car option to give learners even more choice. We’re also continuing and expanding our popular Introduction to Driving programme in local secondary schools across South Yorkshire.

I’m really proud of our new website (relaunched November 2025) and our growing Theory Practice resources — with plans to develop them into a dedicated learning app in 2026.
